<p>Join us for the inaugural Sunset Poetry Series reading, the first-ever poetry reading series held in Sunset Park. The reading will take place in the beautiful penthouse studio space of Suryasta Yoga (the first and only yoga studio in Sunset Park), which features a great view of the neighborhood from its bamboo balcony. Readers will sit on a meditation pillow at the front of the studio, and audience members will sit on the wood floor or the cushion of a yoga blanket. Sitters&#8217; choice. Tea and water will be served. Oh, and no shoes allowed in the studio&#8211;so wear your coolest socks! www.suryastayoga.com<br />

<p>The poets: Melissa Broder, Jason Koo, Martin Rock</p>
<p>MELISSA BRODER is the author of WHEN YOU SAY ONE THING BUT MEAN YOUR MOTHER (Ampersand Books, February 2010). She is the chief editor of LA PETITE ZINE and curates the Polestar Poetry Series at the Cake Shop. By day, she is a publicity manager at Penguin. She is the winner of the 2009 Stark Prize for Poetry and the 2008 Jerome Lowell Dejur Award. She lives in Brooklyn. <a href="http://www.melissabroder.com">www.melissabroder.com</a></p>
<p>JASON KOO is the author of MAN ON EXTREMELY SMALL ISLAND, winner of the 2008 De Novo Poetry Prize (C&#038;R Press, 2009). He earned his BA in English from Yale, his MFA in creative writing from the University of Houston and his PhD in English and creative writing from the University of Missouri-Columbia. The winner of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Vermont Studio Center, he has published his poetry and prose in numerous journals, including THE YALE REVIEW, NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, and THE MISSOURI REVIEW. He teaches at Lehman College, where he serves as Director of Graduate Studies in English. He lives in Sunset Park. <a href="http://www.jasonkoopoetry.com">www.jasonkoopoetry.com</a></p>
<p>MARTIN ROCK holds an MFA from New York University, where he was awarded the Starworks fellowship and served as Editor-in-Chief of WASHINGTON SQUARE REVIEW. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in FORKLIFT, OHIO, MISSISSIPPI REVIEW online, SIXTH FINCH, TUESDAY: AN ART PROJECT, and other journals. His collaborative chapbook with Phillip D. Ischy, FISH, YOU BIRD, was published by Pilot Books last year.
